The building is still there in town square on Main Street USA, but the 10 cent Hills Brothers coffee is no longer brewing!  Many of us have good memories from childhood of our parents stopping for coffee or breakfast or lunch on Town Square in Disneyland (adjacent to where the parades enter/exit the backstage area).  The patio was a pleasant place to sit and watch the horse-drawn trolley and double decker bus go by while the Mickey and Donald greeting guests nearby.  A map on the back of this menu helps date it: It portrays the Tomorrowland Viewliner attraction, on of shortest-lived of all Disneyland attractions, dating the menu to 1957 or 1958.  Menu is in PRISTINE condition!   Vintage Disneyland menu are hot collectibles.  Measures 16" x 10" open.  On heavy card stock.  Only this one available.  Item # 2231, $185

A film distribution agreement on Walt Disney Productions Mickey Mouse letterhead with an original signature of Gunther Lessing on page 3.  Gunther R. Lessing headed Disney's legal department for many years before the Walt Disney promoted him to vice president and general counsel of Walt Disney Productions.  At the Disney studio, known for its laid back atmosphere where everyone was addressed by their first name, it was Gunther Lessing who Walt referred to when he said, "The only Mister we have at the studio is our lawyer, Mr. Lessing."  Lessing earned his law degree from Yale, and spent his early career in Mexico where he briefly acted as council for Pancho Villa.  Walt Disney hired Lessing to represent them in late 1929 and early 1930 to protect their rights to their cartoons from the predatory Pat Powers.  "If he was good enough for Pancho Villa then he's a good enough attorney for me," Walt Disney reportedly said.  Lessing was hired by Disney in 1929 and stayed with the studio for 35 years, retiring in 1964.

In this agreement with CineDis, Disney's French distribution affiliate, Walt Disney Productions spells out the terms for distribution of the motion picture "The Great Locomotive Chase" in France and territories under French influence.  3 page letter signed by Lessing, plus a 6 page addendum initialed by Lessing.  Typed carbon document with Lessing's original ink signature.  In fine condition.  Item #  3712, $175

 Walt Disney Signed 1966 Letter

"I am very active in my business..."
Now there is an understatement.  Written at a time when Walt's plate was full with plans for Disney World and major changes to Disneyland-- including New Orleans Square, Pirates of the Caribbean, and an entirely new Tomorrowland-- Walt Disney politely turns down an award citing the demands of his business:

"I am flattered that the Board of Directors of the National Children's Theatre
has chosen me to receive the annual Meacham award and sincerely
regret that it is impossible for me to accept your cordial invitation.  Because I am very
active in my business and involved in many of its phases of operation I am frequently
called upon on short notice to change my plans in order to take care of
this or that problem.  I could not accept an invitation as important as this one
knowing full well I might have to cancel out at the last minute.
I my sorry this situation exists but I hope you will understand my position
and accept my deepest thanks for the accolade you have already paid me
in wanting to honor me in this way.  My sincere thanks to you and the Board of Directors and -
All best wishes - Walt Disney"

Personally signed by Walt Disney on his desk in his office at the Disney Studio, this letter is typed on his personally imprinted "WALT DISNEY" letterhead.  This letter is in very fine condition and measures approx. 10.5" x 7.25".  Includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.  Also included is an 8" x 10" photograph of Walt Disney suitable for framing.  Item # 3695, $2595

Special U.S. shipping charge on this item $19.95.  Foreign shipping $29.95.  Automatic checkout will not calculate foreign shipping accurately.  After you place your order we will email foreign customers for additional shipping payment.

Club 33... Iraq Annex!

My customer Timothy Archer sent this amazing photo of a blast-protection wall he painted in Balad, Iraq as a reminder of more pleasant places back home.  Club 33 is Disneyland's super-exclusive private restaurant and bar.  The wing Archer was attached to was part of the original “Tuskegee Airman” Wing.  "There sure was a lot of pride along with that honor out there," he reports.  I'm glad to tell you that Archer is back in the states, and back to Disneyland.  Thanks for the good work, Tim.
