All Mickey Mouse Drawings by Walt Disney are uncommon-- and this one is exceptionally rarer still because of it's extremely large size and mint condition!  No Disney character is more closely associated with Walt Disney than Mickey Mouse.  Walt felt so close to the little mouse that he personally performed all of Mickey's spoken lines in the early years of Mickey Mouse cartoons.  But many fans are surprised to learn that beyond the earliest spark of Mickey Mouse's creation in the late 1920's, Walt Disney did not draw Mickey Mouse professionally.  Walt Disney was Mickey's creator and the producer of Mickey's films and print publications, but left the drawing to a staff of talented artists.  This makes a drawing of Mickey Mouse by Walt Disney extremely rare.  Although Walt's own drawing ability had atrophied since the 1920's, he would-- on occasion-- still draw Mickey when specially requested.  When these rare drawings do appear on the market, they are not usually this large.  This oversize drawing measures an impressive 10" X 12.5"

  Walt Disney has autographed his drawing, "TO MICK WARNER/MY VERY BEST/WALT DISNEY" and dated it (19)41.  Walt has signed using his famous block-printed signature.  Disney's block-printed signature has become the brand logo for the global Disney empire- but in fact Walt didn't use it much, and today examples are much less common than his cursive signature.  Like most cartoonists, Walt Disney had both a cursive signature (the way most of us sign our names) and a block-printed signature, which he used even back in high school when signing his drawings.  Although the style of both signatures changed over the years, his block-printed autograph became the basis for the Disney Company logo.  But because it took longer to sign (and autograph requests were many) by the 1950's Walt rarely used it.
